Media changes over the next 5 years

Describe your vision of how the media world will be for most people five years from now. Discuss how and where people will access news, entertainment, and other media content, and examine what media companies may be important. Think back through all the readings to give examples and contexts.

The push over the next five years will be what is the most convenient for society. Society has moved toward wanting their media and news immediately and what is most accessible since we are a society that is always on the go.

By 2017, 85% of the world will be covered by 3G mobile internet and half will have 4G coverage, according to Sony Ericsson. Three billion smartphone users will contribute to data traffic that is 15 times heavier than today. For more and more consumers, the most important screen will be the tiny one in their pocket.
Personalized and data-soaked, context and location aware, the phone is the window into the consumer's soul that marketers have been looking for.  I can speak from experience in regards to this.  I can remember when texting first started I hated the thought of texting instead of calling someone on the phone.  But now I would rather text than to call.  Also, I have many applications on my phone such as both of my email accounts, my banking account, Facebook and even games and other items that I use on a daily basis.

Over the next five years people will use smaller, quicker and more convenient ways to access their media and news.  Cell phones are one way of meeting the demands of this for the consumer and society.  Many people have gone away from a desktop computer and laptop computers and are using hand held devices instead.  The movement is also going toward being able to watch even television on their phones.  Netfilx offers the option to watch Netflix on the go from anywhere. This kind of mobility will continue to increase over time.    Many people have started using their cell phones instead of a land line home phone as well.
